Therapy for Children

Children experience emotions, challenges, and life changes alongside adults, but they have different ways of expressing themselves. Language is a developing skill in childhood which makes therapy with children a specialized service that requires professionals who are equipped to understand how to engage and support children of all ages.

Through a variety of activities including play, creativity, art, and conversation, therapists are able to support children and provide an emotionally safe environment for support and growth.

Often, we see children who need support to address concerns such as anxiety, coping skills, emotional awareness, adjustment to stress or trauma, social challenges, school-related stress, and family dynamics.

We aim to always create partnership with parents throughout the therapy journey. Parents play an important role in a child’s therapy because lasting change must be supported in the home. Regular parent meetings, parenting coaching, and collaboration with parents are ways that we support children and their families.

Some of the techniques our clinicians utilize with children include play based interventions, creative and expressive arts, cognitive behavioral therapy (including TF-CBT), family systems support and attachment work. We work with children as young as five years old.
